Faculty of Technical Sciences of University of Pristina temporary settled in Kosovska Mitrovica has submitted an application under the Erasmus+ Programme for the action Capacity Building in Higher Education in the call for proposals for 2015. One of the projects that have been approved for funding is “Implementation of the study program – Digital Broadcasting and Broadband Technologies (Master studies)”.
The project members are the following High Education Institutions (HEI): University of Pristina temporary settled in Kosovska Mitrovica, Higher Technical Professional School in Zvecan, University of Bihac (BiH), University of Banja Luka (BiH), The School of Electrical and Computer Engineering of Applied Studies in Belgrade, University Singidunum Belgrade, VSB-Technical University of Ostrava (Czech Republic), University in Ljubljana (Slovenia), Poly-technical University in Madrid (Spain), University of Tartu (Estonia). The following business institutions are also project partners: JP Emisiona tehnika i veze Beograd, Alternativna televizija Banja Luka and TV Mreza Gnjilane.
Countries of the region have committed themselves to switch from analogue to digital broadcasting of radio and TV programs. This commitment increased the need for experts that would enable the transition and maintain these new technologies. Hence, the main goal of the project is to HEIs from EU countries altogether with partners from the business help Western Balkan HEIs to implement Digital Broadcast and Broadband technologies – master study programme. This study programme would enable education of students to obtain theoretical and practical knowledge in producing and digitally broadcasting multimedia content. One of the significant project goals for our institution is also setting up the HDTV studio and laboratory with modern equipment for measurement of signals, where the future students will be trained how to use and maintain new technologies.
