KALCEA – Knowledge Triangle for a Low Carbon Economy

KACEA is designed In response to the threat of climate change and the global challenges in the Energy sector. Countries around the world have pledged to invest in low-carbon energy. Renewable energy technologies, storages, smart electric grids, energy efficiency and more, are some of the key segments which will help in massive decarburization. The Knowledge Triangle (KT) highlights the importance of jointly fostering research, education and innovation, and of paying due attention to the linkages between them. University actors in the KT are at the core of the innovation web, where enhanced capacities, high degree of integration and leadership are prerequisites for scaling up innovation performance.

Description

Considering the problems explained, the wider project objective is to create a systematic and structural approach for implementation of knowledge triangle principles, including sharing of knowledge, information, and skills for joint exploitation of research capacities for sustainable growth based on innovation in WBC.  We want to create institutional integration of education, research, and innovation.

Objectives

To fully implement the wider objective, the following specific project objectives are defined:

  1. To create a structured multi-country network between the HEIs and industry sector in WBC countries with aims to exploit the full value of collaboration and cooperation (open innovation), making an impact on academia, business, and society.
  2. To set-up 5 Knowledge – Innovation Centres at WBC HEIs with the aim to manage knowledge triangle activities in WBC, supported by the innovative cooperation platform
  3. To create and implement the professional program in cooperation with the industry sector in the field of Sustainable Energy in 3 WBC HEIs involved
  4. To increase awareness on knowledge triangle importance in Albania, Bosnia, and Kosovo.

KALCEA WP1 Local Workshop

April 23th, 2021

Local workshop within KALCEA project was held via ZOOM application on April 23th, 2021. During the Local Workshop where presented the Results of conducted Survey on the current cooperation between HEIs and business sector and SWOT analysis based on the results of survey. Also, the company representatives participated in the local workshop.

UPKM organized dissemination event on 27 April 2021 Open doors

On April 27, 2021 at the Faculty of Technical Sciences of the University in Pristina in Kosovska Mitrovica, the promotional event has taken place in order to promote the ongoing Erasmus+ projects implemented at the Faculty. The Dean of FTS, Prof. Dr. Nebojša Arsić, vice deans, professors and students have participated in the event. Also, all directors of the high schools from North Kosovo* region were present, together with high school graduates and other interested citizens.

Erasmus + Info day was organized on 11 May by Erasmus + Office in Rectory building

On 11th May 2021 in the Rectory building, Conference Hall, University of Pristina in Kosovska Mitrovica Erasmus + Information day was organized. The meeting was devoted to the promotion of new Call for Erasmus + application and all participants from UPKM faculties were encouraged to submit applications. Also, during the meeting ongoing Erasmus + projects of UPKM have been promoted. During the meeting Prof. Dr Nebojsa Arsic, dean of the Faculty of Technical Sciences and Aleksandra Petrovic Erasmus+ officer of Faculty of Technical Sciences presented Erasmus+ project KALCEA – Knowlege Tiangle for a Low Carbon Economy, project no. 618109 – EPP-1-2020-1-EL-EPPKA2-CBHE-JP, where the UPKM-FTS is partner institution of the project.
